This is my third attempt at trying to paint Fallingwater.

I like this color block / cartoon-y look.  The first two attempts, I got lost in the details.   Don't study this for accuracy because you wont find any.

We visited Fallingwater two years ago.   It was so fabulous, I highly recommend going.  Just a few weeks ago, it became a UNESCO world heritage site.

FLW loves him some cantilevers
While we were out there, we also visited another Frank Lloyd Wright house, Kentuck Knob, which is only a few miles away.

Kentuck Knob has a lot of sculptures on the grounds surrounding the house.  Amongst the art, I was surprised to find a section of the Berlin wall.

For the full FLW experience, you can stay at Polymath Park.  We opted for the nearby Hilton instead  which had a nice breakfast and an excellent firepit outside the bar.

Never Trust a Happy Song

6" x 6" x 1.5" acrylic on canvas

Here's a follow up to the Prodigy album cover I painted yesterday.  This is my attempt at painting Grouplove's first album cover.

Soon after I started this little painting hobby and started this blog, I went to a Grouplove concert.  In between songs, one of the singers took a second to talk about not giving up on artistic pursuits.  She said something like, 'so if you paint, keep painting!'.  It was a quick, almost random side comment; and in my mind, I pretended she was talking to me.

The Fat of the Land

6" x 6" x 1" acrylic on canvas

Had the radio on this morning, enjoying some old school Prodigy, getting incredibly pumped up...  and then the DJ says they're playing it because Keith Flint killed himself.
Well damn.
That is a bummer.

So this afternoon I dug out all our old Prodigy CDs and painted a little tribute.

Steve Buscemi

By popular demand!
Did you know he was a firefighter in NYC in the 80's?  And after 9/11, he went back to help his old firehouse for a few days.
Also, he just lost his wife of over 30 years, so say a little prayer for Steve Buscemi.

Hugo Weaving

8" x 8" x 0.5" acrylic on canvas

You probably don't recognize him from this painting, but this is the actor that was Agent Smith in The Matrix and Elrond in Lord of the Rings.

On top of the questionable quality of this painting,  the photo I took isn't doing it any favors.  Which is a bummer because I thought I was improving.  Meh!

John Malkovich

8" x 8" x 0.5" acrylic on canvas

Did you know John Malkovich is half Croatian?  Just like my nephews.

While I was looking him up, I also saw he's in "Bird Box" which I've heard people talking about.  Didn't even know that when I did this painting.

Anyway, too bad I still struggle with painting ears. Otherwise, I feel this one turned out decent.
