Jean Reno

8" x 8" x 0.5" acrylic on canvas
This is supposed to be the French actor Jean Reno (circa 1995).  Or you could pretend it's Maxsim Chmerkovskiy from Dancing with the Stars.  Your choice.

Benicio Del Toro

8" x 8" x 0.5" acrylic on canvas
I didn't realize until I tried to paint his face, but there's something similar between Benicio Del Toro and Brad Pitt.  Not that you can tell from this painting.

Tree tree tree

Another twisty tree
8" x 8" x 0.5" acrylic on canvas
I was trying to paint this photo of a tree I found on wikimedia.

Do you remember that tree song Mr. Rogers used to sing?  It popped up in my brain while I was painting this.

Joaquin Phoenix

My collection of actor paintings is a little embarrassing.  And yet, the collection grows, and so does the weirdness.
8" x 8" x 0.5" acrylic on canvas

Joaquin is one of my favorite actors, and I was wishing he would make more movies.  Then I looked him up for this painting and found he's making lots of movies...  I just haven't seen them.  I guess if a movie isn't a big budget blockbuster, it's not on my radar.  Sad!

Tomatoes of darkness

Today's still life:

16" x 20" x 0.5" acrylic on canvas

Why are the tomatoes lurking in the dark?  Maybe because they are in the nightshade family of flowering plants.  Or maybe because they are surrounded by confusion as to whether they are a fruit or a vegetable.   Or...  I wanted a dark painting next to my kitchen that would coordinate with a dark color scheme.  Art!

Dark landscape - a copycat painting

This is my attempt to copy a painting I saw on Pinterest.

8" x 8" x 1" acrylic on canvas

And here is the beautiful original painting by Hester Berry:

oil on board

Sadly, I'm too impatient to bust out the oil paints and palette knives.  Squirt some acrylic on a paper plate and GO!

Help me, Tom Cruise!

A painting of Tom Cruise?  Why not!
6" x 6" x 1.5" acrylic on canvas

He needs a sparkle on the teeth.  I might attach a bedazzle.

Hopefully this painting does not summon some sort of Scientology demon into my home.

Heeeere's Johnny!

Here's Jack Nicholson from The Shining.

6" x 6" x 1.5" acrylic on canvas

I was trying to paint his face in the scene where he creepily stares out the window.

There might be some out of control paint blobs happening on his mouth.  There was a struggle.

Since I've been so lax about posting paintings, I thought I would drop this blog and let the domain name expire.  But then I saw a biker gang with "Veni, Vidi, Vici" embroidered on the back of their leather jackets.  Hell, that's all the encouragement I need.

Sun and sandcastles

Here's the perfect February view:
8" x 10" x 0.5" acrylic on canvas
Sandcastle sculptor
fiddler crabs and crashing waves
sun hot on his back

I painted this off a photo I took in Pensacola, Florida.
